Ecrylimer — Australian-Made Casting Compound for Trade & Industry
Bulk supply for film and television, events and theming, architecture, sculpture, fiberglass mould-making, and commercial fabrication. Non-toxic. Water-based. No fumes. Invented and manufactured in Australia.
What Is Ecrylimer Eco Resin?
Ecrylimer is an Australian-invented, water-based casting and coating compound. It was designed to replace traditional casting products, polyester resin, fiberglass layup compounds, and imported casting materials with something safer, faster, and locally made.
It was invented by Gabbi Murrell and has been manufactured in Launceston, Tasmania since 2021. It is used by makers, artists, sculptors, fabricators, event designers, and commercial clients across Australia and internationally.

National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra — 2025
Ecrylimer Creator was used in the fabrication of Inferno, an immersive audiovisual installation by Paris-based Australian artist Mikaela Stafford. The compound was applied as a surface coating over polystyrene foam for the sprawling landscape base elements, and used to create the pattern surface for the fibreglass mould of the main sculptural form. The installation required a material that was non-toxic for enclosed workshop use, foam-compatible, and capable of curing to a surface hard enough for a public gallery with foot traffic. Ecrylimer delivered on all three.

Two full-scale faux stone wall panels — each over 2.4 metres tall — were fabricated using Ecrylimer BOLD+ applied over blue XPS builders foam on aluminium composite backing. The panels were built to look like natural weathered rock from close range, be light enough for two people to transport and install, and be durable enough for a live event with foot traffic. They passed. The same panels are being permanently installed at a second venue. Ecrylimer was applied in multiple layers with pigments (black, grey, white, earth tones) and embedded shell chips and crushed glass for mineral texture.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a non-toxic alternative to polyester resin for set building in Australia?
Ecrylimer is an Australian-made, water-based casting and coating compound that replaces polyester resin for set building, prop making, and event fabrication. It produces no toxic fumes, bonds to foam substrates, and can be used safely in indoor studio environments without ventilation systems. Available in bulk from 5kg to 1 tonne.
Where can I buy a Jesmonite alternative in bulk in Australia?
Ecrylimer Creator by Bramblier is an Australian-made alternative to Jesmonite, available in bulk quantities from 5kg to 1 tonne. Manufactured in Launceston, Tasmania, it ships Australia-wide with no import delays. Non-toxic, water-based, and compatible with the same workflows as Jesmonite.
Does eco resin bond to foam for set and event construction?
Yes. Ecrylimer bonds directly to polystyrene foam (EPS and XPS) without dissolving or damaging it. Polyester resin melts foam on contact. This makes Ecrylimer particularly suited to lightweight set construction, event theming, and large-scale sculptural work using foam cores with an Ecrylimer surface coating.
Can Ecrylimer be used for large-scale film and event fabrication?
Yes. Ecrylimer has been used in the fabrication of a sculptural installation at the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra, and for full-scale faux stone wall panels (over 2.4 metres tall) for live event installations by Event Avenue. It cures to a hard, sandable surface and can achieve a mirror-polish finish within 24 hours.
Is there an Australian-made casting compound for wholesale and trade buyers?
Ecrylimer by Bramblier is manufactured in Launceston, Tasmania, and available for wholesale and trade supply from 5kg to 1 tonne.
